Unforgettable

Ruby Bradley's story shows how brave the Army and Navy nurses were during imprisonment in the Phillipines. When she joined the Army Nurse Corps before WWII, never did she imagine the frightful experience the next few years would bring. Ruby and Beatrice Chambers were the only Army nurses stationed at Camp John Hay, the mountain base where the Japanese bombs first hit before bombing the bases at Manila. The small medical staff spent the next days constantly caring for the wounded being brought in to the Army hospital. When the enemy troops neared the nurses left with a small group to escape to the hillside. Eventually they were captured along with civilians in Baguio. For the next three years the nurses continued to care for those who suffered starvation and illnesses under a brutal enemy.

After being rescued, returning to the States, and resuming her Army nursing, Ruby Bradley volunteered for another war, Korea, and began the next exciting experience in her career. Read the book to find out what a remarkabe woman she was.

I was honored to be able to interview Beatrice Chambers, who was at Camp John Hay, for my book, NO TIME FOR FEAR, VOICES OF AMERICAN MILITARY NURSES IN WORLD WAR II. What a story these two women shared.

I came to love Colonel Bradley as I was completing this book

I read this book in less than two days. Being a nurse for 26 years, along with being in the Navy for three years (non-nursing) , I came to love Colonel Bradley as I was completing this book. Colonel Bradley seemed to be firm, but fair, serious, but had a witty sense of humor. As to her wounded patients (solders), whether they were black or white,she was like a mother and big sister to these guys, telling them it's going to be okay! It appeared while reading this book that the junior nurses, her corpsmen, and the doctors/surgeons with whom she worked along side with, Colonel Bradley was highly praised and respected! Very Good book . I enjoyed reading every page of this book.

Awesome and informative!

What can I say? Perry Stone can write a great and informative book, he surprised me, as I don't watch very many Christians who have ministry's on TV. But Perry Stone ranks tops with me (along with Zola Levitt, Joel Rosenberg, Dr. Michael Brown, Jewish Voice with Jonathan Bernis & the show entitled: The Jewish Jesus) and had I not known, I would have thought this guy was a fellow believing Hebrew in Yeshua! He's that good! Also, for any new believer in Christ, you've got to purchase 'Breaking the Jewish Code', as this will help you to better understand your Hebrew roots to your Christian faith, how you can take part in the covenant God made with Abraham, as well as examples of how God has blessed the Hebrew people throughout history!! It's something that is unfortunately simply not taught within mainstream American Christian denominations today and is even looked down upon or shunned. This book is awesome in explaining the Passover meal, what it means and how it can be a blessing in your life!! It's a great read and both these books have been a blessing in my life.

I USE THE PRAYER ON PAGE 133 EVERY MORNING BECAUSE I TAKE COMMUNION EVERY DAY. WHEN I DISCOVERED THIS BOOK IT HELP ME TO UNDERSTAND IT BETTER.
MY PRAYER TIME IS MORE ENRICHED BECAUSE I STUDIED THIS BOOK AND I RECEIVED ALL OF THE BENEFITS OF COMMUNION.

Perry Stone and the Dr. have rediscovered one of the bible teachings that has fell away over the years. What a blessing. I would also encourage you to see the DVD that Perry Stone has produced about daily communion. It will change your opinions on communion only once in a while. It should be daily and in prayer with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Enjoy the book and the fruits it will bring.

Superb

I have been using the 2nd edition of this book to tutor my brother-in-law and his wife. They've enjoyed the book, but recently, I decided to "upgrade". The book arrived in the mail 2 days ago, and I am absolutely astounded. It's in colour. It's got nicer drawings. It's got the same great format. It's got an even better organization. It's still got a smattering of British-only usages, but I've always thought this more of a feature than a bug, and besides, how hard is it to just say, "Americans say it this way instead"?

I'm impressed with the book, and excited to start using it. Highly recommended for autodidacts and tutoring situations.

I have a large collection of English Grammar books. I have found this one to be the best. Each topic is clearly set out, one page of explanation followed by one page of exercises, indexed for easy referral. Ideal for the student who wants to work by him/herself (with answers in the back) or the teacher who wants to check the accuracy of what he/she is teaching. English is a convoluted language with many exceptions to the rule and it is important to be able to present it accurately and clearly to students the first time.Many of my students have bought this book as they consider it sets out clearly all the things they were unsure about in the past.

The BEST english grammar book ever!

English is not my native language and I know very well how difficult is to learn a second language without proper education. I have studied Murphy's books for a long time and recommend his books for everybody. There are a lot of good books out there (I have purchased a whole bunch of them!), but no one bits this one. This book is for elementary students. There are also the intermediate grammar and the advanced grammar - all them are great! It is a must have! Buy with confidence!
