Dusk Gate Series Is Incredible

This is part of The Dusk Gate series. I would advise you to read them in order before reading this book. I loved William's POV. In the past we only have Quinn's POV but now finally we get to see what William was thinking on this journey. How he grew to love Quinn and the little things she did to win him over. I absolutely love everything about this series and it take you to another world like no other. Every character is intriguing and the whole series keeps you entertain. This might be William's POV but unlike other stories which seem to be the same, we get to see more in depth of this world and story. Love that some other characters thoughts even get told. Look forward to see what will happen next. Love this incredible world and read this story in one sitting because I could not put it down.

A new twist to familiar story

After reading Seeds of Discovery numerous times it was refreshing to read it with fresh eyes from William's POV. So many little things that happened with William's family and especially Nathaniel. After reading it, I ended up starting the entire series again. Nice to read books where cuss words and sex aren't needed to push the story and characters along. Eirentheos and Philotheum are entirely a different world but one anyone would wish truly existed after reading the Dusk Gate Chronicles

Amazing, Incredible, WONDERFUL!

To say I loved this book would be an understatement. I have been anxiously awaiting this book's release this morning. But I didn't have to hold out that long. Breeana Puttroff was offering a few free copies for reviews, so I snagged one! (The squeals of joy upon receiving this might have scared my Husband a little.)

For those of you who don't know what The Dusk Gate Chronicles are (educate yourself!), they are a collection of now seven books and a novella surrounding a girl named Quinn Robbins who becomes fascinated by an enigmatic boy from school after almost plowing him down with her car. Bent on discovering what is going on with him, she inadvertently follows him into another world. The series is fabulous, and this newest addition didn't disapoint. My only complaint is that it was too short! (Kidding, it was perfect).
Crossed Roses is a retelling of the first Dusk Gate Chronicle book Seeds of Discovery that started as a project on the author's blog. The first two chapters can be found there. In Crossed Roses, we see the original story from mainly William's point of view with little tidbits from Nathaniel, Thomas, and Linnea as well. So if you loved the first book, you will definitely love this one. A few scenes are brushed over, like the Naming Ceremony where Quinn meets Alvin, but as a reader, you don't really mind because you have already seen that. This book offers behind the scene glances at the other characters, one of my favorites was Nathaniel's thoughts on Toliver's attack on Quinn. It is also awesome to see Williams feelings for Quinn developing even before she finds her way to Deusterros. The scene where he is eavesdropping on Zander's conversation with his friend about asking Quinn out.
This book was fabulous. I wish it would have went a little deeper into was William making the wooden carving of Dusk for Annie. I would have loved to see what he was thinking while he was carving it. I'm pretty sure he gave it to her in the second book, so it makes sense that it wasn't added into Crossed Roses, but I noticed it was hinted at twice.

Something else I might add.... After reading this book I would suggest rearranging the order of the books to look like this:
Seeds of Discovery
Roots of Insight
Thorns of Decision
Blooms of Consequence
Crossed Roses* (I'd put it here instead of at the end)
A Christmas Rose
Canes of Divergence
Leaves of Revolution

One of the great philosophy books

I studied under Michael Scriven at UC Berkeley and was fortunate for it. He is and a maverick. During the 1960's in a class on Marxism he argued against the revolution: what if it went bad? Very unpopular with the Berkeley radicals.
He is brilliant and one of the smartest people I have met, including Buckminster Fuller and Gregory Bateson.

He grew up in the Australian outback and got a Ph.D. in Philosophy from Oxford.

Reliable, delicious and show-stopping recipes. Luis provides beautiful, easy-to read and easy to follow recipes in his Bake it Great cookbook. I followed Luis on the British Bake Off and his charm shines through just as it did on the show. The cookbook is gorgeous with mouth-watering photos and lovely text. Luis also provides very helpful tips throughout his book on how to achieve the perfect bake, such as where to best place your bake when placing in the oven, or how to perfectly shape a boule of bread. From the photos you might think that the recipes would be complicated, time consuming or overly difficult, but Luis guides you through these recipes to elevate the every-day baker from "ordinary to extraordinary". His passion for baking really comes through in his cookbook. I highly recommend this cookbook for any baker or cook, regardless of whether you are a novice or well experienced. The recipes are incredibly fun and Luis makes beautiful bakes an approachable feat.

Also, you can tell that Luis is a graphic designer because the design of this cookbook is gorgeous!

A FABULOUS conclusion to an AMAZING series!!!

Review:
I have been with this series and loved it from the beginning. It’s so unique, with a YA/NA crossover “feel” to it. It spans decades, and encompasses the lives of many characters. It has a sort of soap opera likeness to it but with younger main characters. ***If you haven’t read Dragonfly then this review will contain spoilers.*** This series must be read in order, and Mosaic is the conclusion to the four book series. Book one Dragonfly has been FREE for awhile so if you would like to see if it’s for you now is a good time!

At the end of Watercolor things are going great for Julian and Anna. Anna is worried about their upcoming separation because they will be going to different colleges, but this couple is so in love that it appears they can weather the storm. HOWEVER, Leigh gave us the first chapter of Mosaic which showed us that this couple in fact did not stay together. They are still apart almost 2 decades later. And to top it all off Anna had apparently hidden the fact that she had given birth to Julian’s child 17 years earlier!!! O.O I was literally SHOCKED, STUNNED. I mean what could have caused this??

Well that is what Mosaic is about. We are taken back in time, everything is revealed, and I was tempted to throw my iPad out the window a time or two. The angst level was extreme, so severe I swear my muscles ached from the sky high tension in them. The emotional hangover was bad too.

I seriously adore Leigh’s writing style. It’s crazy how she does her POV’s and storytelling with journals, and in this one a private blog diary, but it worked for me both times. My favorite book of the series is actually Undertow, the one made up almost entirely of journal entries. I just loved Bill Keyser’s story. But really I loved all of them. I was emotionally invested in each and every character.

Anyway, back to the story… So normally if a heroine hides a child from the father I am furious. It does not jive well with me, and I WAS mad at Anna, but because I love this Authors writing I kept reading. I said I was emotionally invested in these characters, but I never said I liked them all. And to be totally honest I never really liked Anna all that much. In this one I think I even bordered on hating her at times–but I still cared what happened. And I LOVED Julian. I mean I really liked him before–but I LOVED him in Mosaic ♥♥

I think you will want to give Anna a swift kick in the a$$ too after her ridiculous antics–the ones that separated these two for nearly twenty years. Was it all her fault? I kind of thought so but I will leave you to decide.

Overall, I HIGHLY RECOMMENDED this series to adult fans of YA and/or NA. The steam factor is very low in this one but that is not the case for every novel in the series. However, the storyline is great so I didn’t miss it. I will very much miss this series though, I looked forward to each installment because I knew I would be entertained. And expect the unexpected :)

I will definitely be reading more from this Author, she is a truly talented storyteller!

My Thoughts:

Mosaic was a very emotional conclusion to the Dragonfly Series, by Leigh T. Moore. I have been following this saga since the first book, and have gone through every bit of heartbreak, happiness, and learning experience with these characters. Everything ended as it should have, and I was very satisfied with the conclusion.

As I reflect on this series, one of the things I loved about it, was how it has spanned generations. Everything came full circle in Mosaic, and the characters of the past, present, and now future of the LaSalle and Kyser family reunited.

Mosaic begins by introducing us to Jules, Anna's, sixteen year old daughter, who is a riot!!! Jules and Anna have returned to Anna's hometown for her 20th High School Reunion. Anna has come to introduce Jules to her biological father, who never knew about her existence. Jules' first night there, she runs in to a certain good looking and charming man with the same blue eyes, and she is pretty sure that he is her father. That night Jules discovers her mother's secret "blog," which is on a key chain drive. It is her mother's diary, and goes back in time to Anna's first year in college, and progresses to everything that occurred between Jules' parents, leading to their eventual estrangement. Then, the story fast-forwards in to the present time.

Mosaic read much like a real life story. It was filled with ups and downs. It reflected on first love, and the mistakes we tend to make when we are young and in love. It reflected on how as we grow up and mature, we learn more about our strengths, and our weaknesses. If we are wise enough, we try to mend the mistakes from our past.

When you love someone, and I mean really love them, it never dies. Mosaic was a second chance at love story. It was emotional, touching, and bittersweet. It had many life lessons in it about communication, regret, forgiveness, and savoring your life.

My Rating:

I give Mosaic, by Leigh T. Moore, 4 Longing For Lost Love, Healing, and New Beginning Filled Stars! The Dragonfly Series is great from the very first to very last book in the series. You will get attached to these characters, and cry, laugh and rejoice with them! I recommend this series, and will miss all of these characters!

Absolutely Amazing Series - MUST READ!

I have to say that this is a top 10 best series I have read. First off this is Not just a teen book. I was captived from Dragonfly up until the last word in this book. The writing was fanomible that I felt right nest to Anna the whole time. The concept on having her discover the past through the very people involved. Those journals were very inciteful and sad for the tradgity was inflicted unnecessarily. The emotions I felt reading each book back to back was overwhelming. I laughed, cried, got angry (what I'd give to have smacked Renee & Will) and the frustration each character felt. I may have only invested 3 days reading the entire series but it has touched my heart for a lifetime. Even now being finished with this series I am emotional because of the fabulous writing style this author has graced us with. I haven't posted reviews for the other books because I was too caught up in finding what happens next. I am glad for the little wrap up with Will and can only imagine he will come to terms with the anger inside so he too can find redemption with his family. So for all those looking for a heartfelt romance that starts in high school but carries into adulthood, then the Dragonfly Series is for you.

A poorly done book. This coupled with a really monotonous / bad professor make learning Diff Eq a dread. The worked examples skip huge steps, assume you know things, and are hard to follow as a result.

Horrible Textbook, learn Differential Equations from ANYWHERE else

By far one of the WORST books I've ever used for a course in my entire life. As a student who is now on his last semester for his Bachelor's degree of Mechanical Engineering I can say with confidence this book is absolutely horrible. The explanations for elementary topics are so drawn out and that it makes things far more complicated than they should be. More over, when the book address the more complex aspects of this field, it skips so many steps in the examples that they might not was well be there at all. Most examples in the book go from one algebraic step to another by just saying "as you can see it just becomes..." when in reality they omit upwards of 10 steps, making it completely useless. Much of my time spent in this book was not even on working out the exercises at all, but instead just trying to figure all the omitted steps in the example problems to understand the material before I could even attempt the exercises. Unless you have a VERY firm base knowledge of Differential Equations absolutely DO NOT READ THIS BOOK. You will spend more time banging your head against it than actually getting anything out of it!!!

Worst Textbook

This is, without a doubt, the worst textbook I have ever had the intense displeasure of working with. It offers long-winded, confusing explanations for simple topics, and over-simplified or completely absent explanations for the more complicated material. Examples are rare and convoluted. I believe that they did this in an attempt to illustrate more than one concept per example, but this only serves to confuse the student. The examples frequently shorten steps, or omit them entirely. The exercises themselves are a nightmare. They are poorly laid out, inconsistent, and reference material that has yet to be covered. Instructors, if you are considering this book as a primary text for your Differential Equations course, don't. This book adds layers of frustration and confusion to an already challenging subject.

Men Should Always Pray

By just reading the first chapter of this book you're left in no uncertain terms, with a confidence that by the time you finish reading the book, you too will be endowed with the tools you need to get your prayers answered.

I have read a plethora of prayer books and Derek Prince brings a refreshing look at the basic fundamentals to getting your prayers answered. He slowly helps you to redirect your lens and view of God and what we believe about his purpose for prayer. Continually drawing from scripture like the wise teacher he was, he draws from the storehouse of God's word, the truth about what prayer is, and what it is not. With bold statements such as, "The way we pray will decide the way the universe goes," one has to wonder if the believer truly understands the power of prayer. In this book, he takes us step by step, bringing clarity to scriptural references that will liberate you and launch you into the wonderful life of prayer.

Reading this book was truly like being in a science lab, where I not only read about prayer but as I turned the pages of the book, I would pause and pray as my eyes were opened to biblical truth. I prayed all kinds of prayers through reading the book. I asked God to forgive me for not obeying what his word says about how we ought to pray. Then I had moments when I broke forth in thanksgiving as I realized how good God is and how my prayer developed just from reading and applying the secrets.

Derek Prince did a marvelous job of getting us back on track concerning how men ought to pray. It's not a book that you will be able to put down and forget about, but as you apply the secrets of a prayer warrior, you will find that your prayer life has been injected with new life and you cannot stop sharing it with others. Best book on prayer I have ever read

Since becoming a Christian, over 20 years ago, I have read a number of books on prayer, which I believe to be the most powerful force and most amazing privilege available to the believer. I have been blessed by many of those works, such as the book "Too Busy NOT to Pray" and a number of books on prayer by E.M. Bounds, particularly "Power Through Prayer" with its powerful description of the many hours and deep intensity of the prayers of many great Christian leaders down through history.

However, none of those excellent resources has transformed my prayer life like Derek Prince's "Secrets of a Prayer Warrior." With every chapter I read I found myself thinking "I've already gotten so much from this book that even if I gain no new insight in the remainder of the book, I will still be well satisfied." Then I would read the next chapter and find more amazing material. He details twelve different types of prayer and their distinctions, gives guidance on How to Discover God's Will, talks about the power of the blood of Jesus (in a chapter titled "God's Atomic Weapon") and, most of all, fills the reader with a real PASSION for prayer and the expectation of achieving powerful results through prayer. I believe that every Christian who is serious about their prayer life will find something in this book that will re-ignite the flame of passion for daily communication with God.

Required Reading for Every Christian!!!

This book has literally changed my life and has opened up my eyes to the beautiful awesome blood of Jesus. Every christian should read this book so as to get a complete understanding of prayer and how it can change every area of your life. God is real and so are answered prayers. My family received an answer for a life changing prayer while reading this book. Prayer is not a science, but a real dialog with our creator! He longs to have a relationship with his children through prayer. I will never approach the throne of God like I did before I read this book. Even my young children have learned how to pray effectively. God is good, He is still on the throne and his promises are YES and my response is AMEN!!

exercise your face

I highly recommend this book. The diagram of the facial muscles is most helpful. The exercises and explanations of how to perform them are easy and clear to understand. So clear, in fact, the video isn't really necessary. I began to see lines around my mouth begin to disappear after only one week. I did the exercises about three times per day. By the second week I could actually feel my facial muscles tightening up. The book itself is small and square, sort of like a big CD, making it easy to handle and to store in the bathroom vanity. The pages are heavy duty paper so you won't ruin it when handling with greasy fingers. This is the second book I have purchased with regard to this subject and that first one is going in the trash. This one is a keeper!

Great Book!

I'm 61 and have tried several different kinds of facial exercises. This book is absolutely the best and after only a few times I see a real difference. The exercises are clear and each shows a picture of the muscles that should be working, so you can easily self correct and then really feel it working. Compared to other books I tried, these exercises are less complicated and only take a few minutes, but yet they work much better. I think it's because the author (as described in the book) came to this information from having an injury, so the exercises were developed based on medical info. The DVD that comes with the book is also great to get you started. I can't recommend this book enough.

Since the beginning Feb. 2013. I did the face exercises and massage for two weeks (beginner ones), then every second day as she suggested for a month then had two weeks off then back into it again and I do the practises every 2nd day and sometimes on the third day (but mainly every 2nd day)

Results for me:

Face looks fuller and firmer like when I was in my 20's, more color in my face, the lines around my mouth have faded a bit (not much) the lines on my forehead have lessened (but not by much). My lips look a bit fuller and the lines between my eyebrows had cleared quite a bit. My jaw line and neck was good to start with is firmer.

I must admit it is difficult to do the practises. It takes me 15 minutes.

I am almost 50 and I look quite young for my age already as I do yoga and exercise and have an organic diet since my early 20's. I recommend this book, I feel a lot more confident and my self esteem has improved. I totally believe in aging gracefully and looking the best you can at any age and these practises make me feel like I am doing what I can to achieve this.

I am also going to buy an acupressure book to give my face acupressure to release the underlying tension in my face.

I recommend this book I think it is very helpful. But I am also going to explore other books and take the best out of each book and apply it to my specific needs.

Now a year later, doing these exercises on and off, the basic exercises (plus three of the advanced exercises). This does work, but for me it hasn't cleared forehead wrinkles over eyebrows (she recommends just relaxing the forehead as she says this muscle gets overused). I have found a forehead exercise in Yoga Face so I am going to start using that exercise.

All the lines on my face have softened, have color in my face and I look fresh. So after a year of doing this regularly - these exercises have worked for me (with exception of the forehead and I focus on relaxing these muscles regularly). I don't look like I'm a teenager, but I look good for my age.
