Carl Laferton is Senior Editor at TGBC. He is author of Original Jesus, Promises Kept and Christmas Uncut, and series editor of the God's Word For You series. Before joining TGBC, he worked as a journalist, a teacher, and pastored a congregation in Hull. Carl is married to Lizzie and they have two children, Benjamin and Abigail. He studied history at Oxford University.

I'm pretty picky about extrabiblical kids books

I'm pretty picky about extrabiblical kids books. I'd rather they read a wholesome secular book than a Christian book that contorts or misrepresents the Gospel or the nature of God or core doctrines. This book held up just fine to my scrutiny. It's quite sound. It's also very engaging even though my boys are only 3 and 4, and it's beautifully illustrated.

This is the very best Biblical, 'gospel presentation' for children I've ever seen. It bridges the Old Testament and New Testament with beautiful illustrations too. We purchased this for another child after receiving it as a gift. I wish that this book had been available for me as a child to help make a the connection between God's law and grace. However, it seems equally helpful for adults!

This book is great! I just received this book a week ago & my daughter is already asking the big questions! She is only 4. We go to church every Sunday & she loves Sunday school. We have a few other Christian story books & a Bible for her but she has never really been into reading them.... Until this book. I don't know what it is about it, whether it just makes since to her, the cool pictures or her age but she wants to read it all the time. I as a parent I love it for all those reasons and the story is also so clearly laid out. Really super happy with this purchase!
